Pregnancy Week 38

I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going!

Over the last few weeks, we have received the baby's furniture from Mama's and Papa's and have spent several evenings putting the items together (well my partner has, I just read the instructions!)

The room is beginning to take shape now, my favourite job so far has been to hang the clothes in his wardrobe. Every second of this task was filled with so many happy thoughts and dreams about the baby, I am beyond excited!

I decided to give everything a wash in a baby sensitive non-bio liquid so that it would be all ready to wear as soon as he arrives. This took 9 washes to complete, as I've never been so paranoid that I'm going to ruin something so delicate! I then went through the task of ironing EVERYTHING, yes even socks!!  It's all done now though and I'm feeling very proud of how it's all coming together.

The pram and car seat are ready to go, now we wait for little one to make his grand appearance!

I will hopefully be back soon with an update on his birth.

Update

I'm so excited to announce that I'm 15 weeks pregnant!!
I have been thinking about writing a few blogposts with regular updates and reviewing the purchases I'll be making (lots!) as to be honest this is taking up most of my thoughts at the moment.
I'm really enjoying other pregnancy blogs and YouTube videos too so if you know of any good ones, please let me know.
Hope you're all enjoying the Easter break!

New Home

After a loooooong wait, we are finally in our new home!
It took us so long to find a house we both liked and the pressure was on when our flat sold before we had found somewhere.
After going through the legal process of buying the house, we were incredibly frustrated when it fell through on the day of exchange and after many furious phone calls, found out that there was no way of reviving the deal.
Within a week of this happening, we were so lucky to find an even better, bigger house and so didn't waste a minute and offered a price to the estate agent during the appointment!
After three months of going through all the legal paperwork again and a few minor glitches here and there, we finally moved in on Wednesday!
Wednesday was a really manic day, with ensuring that we were ready on time, the removal men emptying the flat (who knew I was such a hoarder!) and the off loading the other end, it was so nice to sit back on Wednesday evening and feel pleased with all we've achieved and look forward to the settling in process.
This morning I have woken up in our new home and feel content to just relax and enjoy it!

Moving House

I have been looking to upgrade to a 3 bedroom house since March of this year and am still trawling through Rightmove daily to look for new houses, as though it's part of my daily ritual!
The pressure is now on as after 4 weeks of being on the market, we have sold our 2 bedroomed masionette.
We have looked around so many properties but have still not found 'the one', those we think are close to being it, need so much work doing, that we're not prepared to do. (We're both useless with D.I.Y!)
If I think about it, we must have viewed over 30 houses and today I've booked for us to view another 4!
I really hope today's the day....I can't face another few weeks of looking.

Eat. Nourish. Glow.

After seeing Sam Smith's amazing weight loss, the first thing I did was find out what plan he had been following to see if it would be something that would work for me.

'Eat. Nourish. Glow.' Written by Amelia Freer, was the book he had followed and had spoken highly of how it had changed his mindset when it comes to food.

Reading further about Sam's weight loss, I realised that a lot of what he spoke about - his relationship with food- was very similar to mine. I love my food and it centres around a lot of my daily thoughts. My family laugh that all my memories revolve around food and I know that not only do I eat too much but I also make unhealthy choices.

I ordered the book from Amazon immediately and had to wait a few weeks for it, as it was out of stock due to the publicity from Sam.

The book arrived last week and has been something I have been immediately drawn to read from cover to cover.

The book discusses eliminating or cutting down sugar, dairy and gluten foods from our diets, because not only do these foods make us put on weight but more importantly,  they are causing all sorts of health issues, some of which we will not learn about until later in life.

My initial aim is to cut down on gluten as I know this will be the hardest thing for me to crack. Amelia does not claim that following this plan is easy and cutting out foods can be done overnight but I think following her gluten replacement and recipe ideas will certainly start the process of me cutting it down from my diet.

Eat. Nourish. Glow. talks about going back to basics, cooking simple meals from scratch and being more considerate about what we put in to our bodies. This is something I would really like to get in to the habit of doing, as there are too many occasions where neither myself nor my boyfriend are willing to cook and will just rely on a takeaway instead.

I'm looking forward to now starting this process and will keep you all informed on  how I get on.

South Lakes Safari Park

Recently my boyfriend and I decided to visit the South Lakes Safari Park, I was so looking forward to going as I particularly love seeing the big cats.

This experience was so different to any I've had before as you are able to wander around the park at your leisure and can stroll in and out of the enclosures (surrounded by windows or fencing) to come up close with the animals.

Firstly we watched as the lions were fed - a man climbed up a wooden pole and hung several pieces of meat on to the pole and within minutes the lion and 2 lioness' joined the enclosure, immediately making a dive to the top of the pole, securing their dinner before dropping to the floor to eat it.

We then had a wander through the enclosures with the various different types of monkeys. They were freely swinging above our heads and generally causing mischief - one of the funniest things I saw was a monkey going over to a giant tortoise, crouching down and peering in to his shell, the look on his face was priceless, I only wish my camera had caught it.

Another funny moment was in the giraffe enclosure, I was overwhelmed at their height and had not really appreciated how tall they are until I was inches away from them, I turned around to see 3 lemurs enter the shed with the funniest looks on their face, as if they were missing out on something, they began to jump around by the giraffes and at one point, one snuck off in to the staff only area before helping itself to a piece of fruit and then scooted off, jumping up again to the height of the giraffe and almost kissing it (see photo)

I would really recommend a day out to the South Lakes Safari Park if you're ever in the area, it really put a smile on our faces and had us recollecting funny memories all evening!

Making Plans!

I've started back at Weight Watchers again, having put on the 2 stone (and a little extra) that I'd lost back in December 2012. This is the year I will achieve a loss of at least 2 and a half stone. I need to do this for my health, confidence and because I have a wedding to plan!!
I got engaged back in the summer, but for some reason just didn't want to announce it on any social media, we decided to change this just before Christmas and now everyone knows, I can start making plans.
I'm absolutely in love with my ring, it's the style I've always lusted after and having described it to my partner, as soon as he spotted it in the shop window, he knew he had to get it!
We have been together a very long time (13 years) and we hope to get married around our 15th anniversary so now I have 18 months to get everything organised. I will share this with you over the next few months and hopefully give you a sneak peek in to some of my choices.
